Europeans of the Year 2008: (l to r: Dana Spinant, Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, Stavros Dimas, Chris Davies, Ilkka Laitinen, Meglena Kuneva, Claude Turmes, Jean-Claude Trichet, Livia Saplacan representing Daniel Morar, Jürgen Debusmann)
Every year, European Voice casts a spotlight on the individuals who have most influenced the European legislative and political agenda during the preceding year. The EVawards Europeans of the year comprises a specially produced commemorative publication distributed to European Voice readers and an exclusive gala dinner where recognition is given to those nominated and where the results of the public voting will be announced.
The EVawards 2008 gala dinner took place on Tuesday, 2 December 2008 at the Palais de la Bourse (stock exchange) in central Brussels.
European Voice donates the profits of the EVawards Europeans of the year to charity. €200,000 has been donated over the past seven years. This year the charity nominated was Missing Children Europe.
We are delighted that Yves Leterme, the prime minister of Belgium, was able to be the patron of the EV awards.
